After login you will come to the entry page to load the program.
Once loaded, you can press the TAB key one to two times or use the mouse to click through to the ePlayground. If the TAB option is not working, it may simply be as a result of your computer settings.
Note: to enable switch navigation already on the entry page please click one time with the computer-mouse on the screen featuring BuddyFly.

From the entry page, you come to the ePlayground - which is actually an island map. Scanning will start automatically, enabling play with a single switch, space bar or mouse left-click. To enable play by puffing into a microphone (Puff2Play™), please press “s” to access the Settings panel and switch on Puff2Play.

Please note that wherever instructions say “press” (single switch or space bar) you can also use mouse left-click or “puffs” using Puff2Play. Settings will be saved.

Note: to change the settings (press “s”), to access Help (press “h”) or to access the Hi-score list and the Hall of Fame the assistance of a mouse user is required.

lizard with wizard hatTip! If the browser is on the ePlayground and you happen to open another program on your computer, this may result in Flash losing focus. This means that when you come back to the ePlayground's webpage from the other program, you have to mouse-click anywhere on the ePlayground to re-enable the use of single switch.

You can PRINT these instructions for later reference.

Settings on the Island map:

To access the Settings panel, press “s”.
Settings will be saved.

1. Adjustable scanning speed (1 – 10).
The scanning speed determines the number of seconds the scanning frame pauses on each item before moving on to the next option. So the lower the scanning speed, the faster the player has to respond.

2. Adjustable release time (1 – 10).
The release time determines number of seconds the switch will be ignored after it has been pressed. So the lower the release time, the faster the player has to press and release.

lizard with wizard hatTip! It is best to keep the release time lower than the scanning speed.

3. Activate Puff2Play.
Attach a microphone to your computer. You can then use your breath to control navigation. Turn on the Puff2Play™ mode by clicking on the Turn-Puff2Play™-on button. Then click “allow” to allow the controls access to your microphone.

Adjust the microphone input if necessary.
The black number shown is the sound-level which will trigger a reaction. The higher this level is set, the more input (sound/puff) into the microphone is needed.
For many, the best option is to have the black number set as high as possible, so that regular breathing in the microphone will not trigger an action, only a “puff”.

Have the player blow into the microphone to test.
The red number shows the level of the player's “puff” or blow.
If the red number goes to 100 or above there's no need to adjust anything.
If a blow only reaches to 50, for example, then the black number should be set to 50 or below.

4. To control the background sounds on the map click on the radio buttons in the Settings panel.

5. To adjust the colour of the scanning frame, in the Settings panel click on a colour to select and save.

lizard with wizard hatTip! Make the ePlayground full screen by pressing F11 or by clicking on View in the toolbar of your browser and then selecting Full Screen. Using “zoom” on the ePlayground can cause technical problems.

lizard with wizard hatTip! To enhance players' game experience, explain the story and situation of each level to players before they start, referring to the descriptions provided below.

Instructions

You are in a dark shaded area of the beach, close to the nest of Iris the ibis.

The game has three levels. In each level, you have to collect different “good things”.
But beware, because Iris the ibis will try to steal from you whatever you”re carrying. She will try to eat it and if she finds out that she cannot eat it, she will leave it in her nest.

To avoid Iris the ibis from taking something from you, you have to shoo her.
To “shoo” successfully, press at the same time as you hear the sound or see the image of Iris the ibis.

If you see or hear a good object, you pick it up by simply continuing to walk on over it. Do not press. If you press when you see or hear a good thing, this means you shoo the thing and lose it to Iris.

For each item you collect, you score one point.
If Iris shows up and you do not shoo her successfully, she will take a thing from you.
For each item Iris takes away from you, you lose one point.

The purpose of each level of the game is to have at least one good item left when time is up, which is after 60 seconds.
When you succeed, you will go on to the next level.
If you fail to finish with a score of at least one good item, you will have to play the same level over again.

Level 1

Between large trees and thick shrubs, you walk over the sand close to the nest of Iris the ibis.

Try to collect as many shells as you can and keep them safe from Iris the ibis.

For each five shells you manage to collect, you get one bonus point.
Every now and then you catch a glimpse of the ibis or the shell, and then you have to respond … and fast!

Press to shoo Iris the ibis.
Do not shoo the shells.

Level 2

Iris has managed to steal a lot of shells from other players, only to find out she could not eat them, much to her disappointment. So she crushed them as she returned to her nest. It's over this layer of crushed shells that you approach the entrance to the nest.

Try to collect as many sticks and twigs that lie scattered and keep them safe from Iris the ibis.

For each five sticks and twigs you manage to collect, you get one bonus point.

Every now and then you catch a glimpse of the ibis, a stick or a twig and then you have to respond … and fast!

Level 3:

A boardwalk made from all the pieces of driftwood Iris managed to steal from other players takes you deep into the nest.
Here in this dark and cool place, Iris the ibis keeps all kinds of mystery objects.

There are things she took from the ePlayground that she could not eat. It is impossible to tell what rubbish she keeps here. One thing is for sure, a single starfish has ended up in the nest as well. If you find the starfish and collect it, Iris the ibis cannot take it away from you. The starfish scores you five extra points if you finish the game successfully. All other mystery objects that you manage to take away score one point each.

Oh, and one more very important thing; Iris is not the sole keeper of this nest. She is joined by her granny, Annie the ibis. The pair of them will try and take items away from you!

Press to shoo Iris and Annie.
Do not shoo the starfish or the mystery objects.

All the rest are mystery objects, so make sure that you only shoo Iris and Annie!
